GST Registration Online – Step by Step Procedure & Required Documents

#Step 1

First, you need to visit the GST portal website and then click on an option which reads “Register Now” under the Taxpayers heading.

#Step 2

Now you will be directed to another place. Here you will need to register yourself. Since you are doing this for the first time, select ‘New Registration,’ and in the drop-down menu ‘I am’ select ‘Taxpayer.’  Now choose the State and District and enter the Name of Business and PAN of the business. Enter your email id and working mobile number so that you can receive the OTP. Then click on Proceed, and you will be directed to the next step.

#Step 3

After you have entered the email id and mobile number you will receive an OTP almost immediately in your mobile and email. Read and submit the OTP and click on Continue. If you did not receive any OTP, then check your contact details and click on ‘Resend OTP’ to get the code once again.

#Step 4

You will now receive a Temporary Reference Number which will also be sent to your registered mobile number and email address. Note down the Number carefully. Now once again go to the GST Portal page and click on ‘Register Now.’ Here you will need to enter the Temporary Reference Number you received and enter the captcha code and click on Proceed.

#Step 5

Now you will be able to see your application in the form of a draft. Now click on the edit icon and fill in all the necessary details and information which you have been asked about. Your photographs, proof of business, bank account details and authorization form are some important details you will need to keep close by.

#Step 6

Now after the details have been filled in, go to the Verification page. You can apply using :

DSC- For companies

  • E-sign- OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with Adhaar card.
  • EVC- OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.

After you have applied, a success message will be sent to you.
